A Look At: Valentine’s Day.
by Michelle LaurenMight as well talk about it today, it’s a guarenteed topic so I’m going to take advantage of it. Now for some February 14th is not considered Valentine’s Day. For some, myself included a few years ago, Feb. 14th was known as Single’s Awareness Day (SAD).

For others it's something else...
It gets a little laugh out of people, but what is it saying about us as a society? Well, I don’t care too much about that part, but let’s take a little look anyway. Aside from making a lot of money many people, like Freddie Mercury, just want to find someone to love. For others it’s just for the sake of having someone to take part in certain activities with.
Both are legit reasons in my opinion. In fact considering the origins of the holiday the latter makes perfect sense to me. Back in Rome, ah the most civilized and savage of all empires, had their own version of this holiday. It was basically “let the young folk fornicate day”. So basically what it has reverted into now. Before the Christians came along the idea of having sex before marrage didn’t seem sinful. It made sense, most folks abolish that age old save it for marriage thing now.
Some people still practice it, but not as many as there were. You wouldn’t buy a car without test-driving it would you? If that’s your belief that’s fine, I’m just making fun.
So whether you have someone to love or just to do activities with or not don’t make any big deal on this day. Go and have a nice dinner if you want to, but gifts and presents only mean something if there’s a sentiment there.
