Hunger Games Cast Dismisses Twilight Comparisons
by Michelle LaurenAbout time some YOUNG actors started complaining about Twilight in public. Unlike cowards like me who only do it anonymously in the internet.
With how the new series Hunger Games is a franchise based in the young adult fiction section comparisons are inevitable. Although I think that’s the wrong way to go about it. Comparisons mean nothing unless you look at the contrasts as well.
Yes well all know Twilight sucks, kicking a dead horse here. What about Hunger Games though? Well it seems like it’s a series for young intelligent people to read. The stakes alone are enough of an indication that this is a far more serious and adult series.
Hunger Games actress Elizabeth Banks herself was quoted as “What are the stakes in Twilight? Like, ‘I don’t know . . . should I marry this werewolf?’’’
Yeah...pretty much the extent of stakes.
Though not quite worded the way I would do so, it gets the point across. For my praising of Hunger Games people may believe I am interested in this series myself.
Honestly even though I can tell it’s an intelligent series the premise doesn’t exactly do it for me. I’m a bit biased and picky when it comes to fantasy literature though, much preferring what I would write, but I’ll give it as much credit as I can from an outside observer’s point of view.
In conclusion from what I can tell the Hunger Games series includes a dark, adventurous, violent, but tame enough story to appeal to the young adult demographic. There also seems to be romance involved, GOOD romance unlike…well you know.
