This year just gets weirder and weirder. Actually I rather like this decision to have Ms. Piggy and Kermit the Frog. Well I would if it didn’t stem from guilt.

Apparently there was a short lived campaign to have the duo actually host, but that died out quickly. To appease the fans the duo will present an award. Most likely the Best Animated Feature Award. Lord knows we can’t show any respect to neither the category nor the presenters now can we?

They could at least have them present for best effects. Original song wouldn’t work because they’re nominated for that. By the way how did Rainbow Connection not win that award in its day? The Muppets are awesome entertainers, but the thing they’re best at is music. Show them respect, damn it!

I know I’m getting too upset at this, but come on. The Muppets intentions are to inform and charm the pants off you and by Jove they do. They are a staple in our pop culture in a positive way. In the beginning the movies and shows were very clever, I hear the new one was quite good actually. They promote good humor and music appreciation.

They have such a quality standard that they went to some big lengths back in the day of the original Muppet Movie. You know Rainbow Connection? They actually made a somewhat robotic Kermit to strum the banjo for that part.

He's no Terminator, but in my eyes just as awesome.

Anyway the Academy is pretentious with their publicity stunts blah blah blah. I suppose I’ll watch them this year, but to be honest there is not one movie I have seen this year. Beauty and the Beast in 3D was the only one in theaters I saw so it’s hard for me to care. Especially since no animated movies caught my eye to vote for.
